The Allankay has been down in the Southern Ocean for almost 2 weeks now, documenting the contrast of pristine waters and whales, to the towering and monstrous krill super trawlers. Even though this is our third year, this year, going later in the year and deeper into the krill trawling territory has taught us that there’s much more to see, whether that’s the interactions between the trawlers and the whales, critical to the discussion of marine protected areas, or just the sheer amount of whales in these areas. It’s truly a beautiful and horrible sight, all at the same time.
